Ideal Candidates for a Temple Lift

Ideal candidates for a temple lift typically include:

  • Individuals in their late 30s to 50s showing early signs of aging around the outer brow and upper eyelid area.
  • Those experiencing mild to moderate sagging or heaviness in the upper face, especially the lateral brow.
  • Patients seeking a refreshed, natural look without undergoing a full facelift.
  • People in good general health, non-smokers, and with realistic expectations about the outcomes.

It is especially suited for those who notice their eyes looking tired or brows appearing flat or droopy, but who don’t yet need full facial rejuvenation.

What to Expect after a Temple Lift

The exact timeline for recovery of a Temple Lift varies depending on the individual and the extent of the procedure. Following Dr. Digenis’ post-operative instructions is key to a smooth and efficient recovery.

Immediately After

You will be discharged shortly after the procedure. Someone will need to pick you up as you will have bandages around your head and neck for one day. Those bandages remain on your head and neck during the night as you rest in a slightly elevated bed.  You will return the very next day to have those bandages removed by Dr. Digenis’ team.  Pain medications will be prescribed to alleviate any discomfort.

First Week after Surgery

Most swelling, bruising, and discomfort occur during this time. Patients are advised to rest, avoid strenuous activity, and follow post-operative care instructions provided by Dr. Digenis and his surgical team.

Next Few Weeks after Surgery

Most patients can resume normal activities, including light exercise. Swelling continues to diminish. You will have a faint line where the sutures were that will continue to diminish. Dr. Digenis advises keeping out of  direct sunlight and wearing broad brimmed hats for several, several weeks after your procedure. You should keep any exercise to light activity until instructed otherwise.

Recovery Expectations

  • Downtime: Most patients can return to non-strenuous activities within 5-7 days, though minor swelling or bruising may last about 1–2 weeks.
  • Discomfort: Mild soreness or tightness is common, but usually manageable with over-the-counter or prescribed pain relief.
  • Healing Timeline: Final results typically become more visible within a few weeks as swelling resolves, with continued improvement over a few months.
  • Aftercare: Patients are advised to avoid heavy lifting, bending, or intense physical activity for about 1–2 weeks and follow specific post-op care instructions to ensure optimal healing.

Temple Lift FAQ

The results vary depending on factors like age, skin type, and lifestyle. On average, results can last 7–10 years. However, natural aging continues, so maintaining results may involve good skincare, a healthy lifestyle, injectables, and potentially, follow-up treatments.

Unlike a full facelift, which targets the mid and lower face, a temple lift focuses specifically on lifting the lateral brow and temple area. It’s less invasive with quicker recovery.

A lot depends on what kind of work you do. Generally speaking, after the second week, you can be in front of people as your stitches will have been removed. If your work involves strenuous activity Dr. Digenis recommends you return after 4-6 weeks.

You can walk at 6 days post operation. Keep your heart rate below 100 bpm. Two weeks after surgery you can sweat and begin to increase your activity. Dr. Digenis recommends avoiding the pool, ocean, hot tubs, or saunas for 4-6 weeks after surgery.

Non-surgical options exist to improve facial appearance. At our med spa, we offer a variety of non-surgical options like: Broad Band Light (BBL), Radiofrequency, micro-needling, laser resurfacing, neuromodulators, Hyaluronic Acid Fillers, Growth Factors and exosomes to help produce collagen.

The average age for a temple lift typically falls between 35 and 55 years old. This age range reflects individuals who are starting to notice mild to moderate sagging around the outer brow and upper eyelids but may not yet require a full facelift. Many patients in this group are looking for a subtle, preventative rejuvenation to maintain a youthful, refreshed appearance.

Typically, if you are healing well, travel is permitted after 2 full weeks after your temple lift.

Incisions are usually hidden within the hairline, so scarring is minimal and well-concealed.
