Case Notes
Six months after upper eyelid blepharoplasty, you can see how much more of the iris is visible on both sides. This patient, a woman in her seventies, had excess upper lid skin removed through incisions placed within the natural lid crease, which keeps the resulting scar discreet once healed. The planning for upper lid surgery at this age takes into account how much skin can be removed without affecting lid closure, so the amount excised is determined with that functional margin in mind. The after photo is taken at the six-month mark, when post-operative swelling has fully resolved and the lid contour has settled into its long-term position.
