Dr. Digenis does not accept insurance in his practice. We do offer competitive medical financing plans through CareCredit, however.
Saline Implants
Saline breast implants are filled with sterile salt water and offer the advantage of smaller incisions, as they are filled after placement. They provide a firmer feel and are easier to detect if ruptured, as the breast visibly deflates and the saline is safely absorbed by the body. However, they may be more prone to rippling and can feel less natural, particularly in women with thinner tissue.
Silicone Implants
Silicone implants are pre-filled with a cohesive gel that closely mimics the look and feel of natural breast tissue. They are a popular choice for their natural appearance and reduced risk of rippling. Although rupture is less noticeable without imaging, silicone implants generally offer a softer, more realistic outcome for many patients.
Personalized Consultation
Dr. Digenis works closely with each patient to help determine the most appropriate implant type based on individual goals, anatomy, and lifestyle. Whether you choose saline or silicone, his expertise ensures a tailored approach to achieve the most natural and satisfying results.
Choosing the right plastic surgeon is one of the most important steps in your aesthetic journey. Dr. Digenis is a board-certified, highly experienced plastic surgeon. Additionally, he and his team are deeply committed to patient-centered care, guiding each individual through a safe and personalized transformation.
Here’s why Dr. Digenis is so sought after for cosmetic surgery here in Louisville, Kentucky, throughout the United States, and from abroad:
- Board Certification – Dr. Digenis is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) which confirms that he has undergone rigorous training, met high professional standards, and maintains ongoing education in the field.
- Experience and Specialization – Dr. Digenis has extensive experience in the specific procedure you’re considering. A specialist in facial surgery may not be the best choice for body contouring, and vice versa. Dr. Digenis, on the other hand, has performed thousands of procedures for the face, breast, and body and has extensive experience in most cosmetic surgeries. Check out his before and after Gallery (link) of actual patients.
- Hospital Privileges – Even if your procedure is performed in a private surgical suite, every plastic surgeon should have hospital privileges in an accredited facility. Dr. Digenis has hospital privileges at every Norton facility in Louisville as well as Baptist Health Hospitals. This is an additional level of validation of his credentials and ensures access to hospital care if necessary.
- Accredited Surgical Facility – All major surgeries are performed in Dr. Digenis’ Quad A, nationally accredited surgical center called Atlas Surgery. Accreditation ensures that the facility meets strict standards for safety, cleanliness, equipment, and anesthesia.
- Patient Reviews and Testimonials – Dr. Digenis has the most robust online reviews and patient testimonials providing insight into his bedside manner, professionalism, and results. Please review the consistent praise in areas like patient satisfaction, recovery experience, and aesthetic outcomes as the hallmarks of Dr. Digenis’ patient-centered approach.
- Clear Communication and Comfort – Patients consistently praise Dr. Digenis as someone who listens to your goals, provides honest feedback, and clearly explains your options, risks, and expected outcomes. In fact the entire team strives to make you feel comfortable, respected, and fully informed during consultations.
- Personalized Treatment Plan – Dr. Digenis always offers a customized approach rather than a one-size-fits-all solution. This shows that he values your individual anatomy, preferences, and long-term satisfaction.
- Professional Affiliations – Dr. Digenis is a member of the American Board of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Aesthetic Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Kentucky Medical Association, and many others. Membership in reputable professional organizations like the ASPS or The Aesthetic Society shows a commitment to ongoing education, ethics, and excellence in plastic surgery.

For some surgeries (Face Lift, Tummy Tuck), spending the night after surgery in Dr. Digenis’ Quad A accredited facility is important for several reasons that directly impact your safety, comfort, and overall outcome:
- Enhanced Patient Safety – Quad A accreditation ensures the facility meets the highest standards for surgical safety, including emergency preparedness, infection control, and equipment protocols. Staying overnight in such a setting means you’re under the care of qualified medical professionals in a space designed specifically for post-surgical monitoring.
- Continuous Professional Monitoring & Seamless Recovery – The immediate post-operative period can involve complications such as bleeding, pain, or reactions to anesthesia. An accredited facility provides 24/7 nursing care and timely access to Dr. Digenis allowing any concerns to be addressed quickly and effectively. This reduces stress for patients and their families and helps lay the groundwork for a smoother, more comfortable recovery.
- Peace of Mind – Knowing that you’re recovering in a certified, well-equipped medical environment rather than at home can provide both physical reassurance and emotional comfort. This peace of mind is especially important after longer or more complex procedures.
- Higher Standards of Care – Quad A accreditation is a mark of excellence, indicating that the facility voluntarily complies with rigorous inspections and ongoing quality assessments.
At Digenis Plastic Surgery and Medi Spa, we offer convenient financing through CareCredit, including the popular 6-month interest-deferred plan. This option allows patients to undergo their desired treatment or procedure now and pay over time, as long as the balance is paid in full within six months to avoid interest. It’s a flexible way to manage out-of-pocket expenses while still receiving top-tier care. Please note that we do not accept insurance for any treatment or surgical procedure, and all services are considered self-pay. Our team is happy to guide you through the CareCredit application process and answer any questions about payment options.
Dr. Digenis charges a consultation fee because he devotes a full hour of personalized time to each patient, ensuring a thorough and thoughtful experience. During this visit, he meticulously reviews your goals, medical history, and unique anatomy, offering expert recommendations tailored to your individual needs.
This comprehensive approach reflects the same high level of care and attention you can expect throughout your surgical journey. The consultation is not a quick overview—it is an in-depth, value-driven discussion designed to empower patients with clarity and confidence. This dedicated time ensures that every question is answered and every detail considered from the very beginning.
Most surgeries are performed in our state-of-the-art, Quad A certified surgery center named Atlas Surgery. The standard of care among board-certified plastic surgeons is to perform procedures in an accredited surgical facility. I maintain AAAASF (Quad A) surgical facility accreditation. This accreditation involves quarterly case peer review, risk management (evaluated by an external risk manager), and re-accreditation every few years.
Dr. Digenis and his team use CO2 monitoring to ensure all patients are breathing while under IV sedation or general anesthesia. CO2 monitoring traces ventilation in real time, allowing us to see and act on immediate changes in gas exchange.
We utilize CRNA’s, Chad Riddle and Chris Ballard, with Metric Anesthesia Group, who carefully evaluate all anesthesia-related services/monitoring. They have assisted Dr. Digenis from the very beginning. Dr. Digenis does not work with an anesthesia group that rotates different providers.
Dr. Digenis’ surgical team has worked together on hundreds of face/neck lift procedures annually. This teamwork has led to a lot of experience with each other and our patients. Communication and team continuity (nurses, anesthesia provider, surgical assistants) are essential to achieving outstanding safety and great outcomes. A dedicated anesthesia provider and state-of-the-art equipment and monitoring add to the total procedural costs; however, the value to safety, physician comfort, and the overall patient experience is immeasurable.
Some procedures can also be performed in-office under an oral narcotic. That decision rests with Dr. Digenis, however, based on the complexity of the case and other extenuating factors.
An age limit of 18 and above for cosmetic surgery ensures that patients are physically and emotionally mature enough to make informed decisions about their bodies. At this age, most individuals have completed significant physical development, leading to more predictable and stable surgical outcomes. It also allows time for patients to fully understand the risks, benefits, and long-term implications of elective procedures. This guideline helps promote safe, ethical, and responsible care in aesthetic medicine.
Dr. Digenis prioritizes patient safety, optimal results, and recovery quality. Combining too many procedures can increase surgical time and anesthesia exposure, raising the risk of complications such as blood clots, infection, or prolonged healing. Dr. Digenis carefully evaluates each patient’s health, goals, and anatomy to determine what’s safely achievable in a single operation. By potentially staging procedures, he ensures that each area receives the focused attention it deserves, leading to better outcomes and a smoother recovery experience.
